Gisela Margarita Pérez is a three-time Emmy Award and Edward R. Murrow winning network producer with over 15 years of experience in television and online media. She is currently Gayle King’s producer at the national morning show CBS Mornings.
Gisela has worked for top networks and outlets including CBS Network, ABC7, Univision, KTLA, and The Hollywood Reporter to name a few.
Gisela is a versatile producer with a wealth of experience in the field and office, on both feature stories and breaking news. She has worked on high-profile assignments, like being on the ground with Gayle King in Minneapolis for the Derek Chauvin verdict, and documenting the controviersial stories of separated families along the Texas-Mexico border in 2018. In the past, Gisela has been dispatched to cover breaking news during hurricanes, console grieving families after mass shootings, chase brushfires for live TV, and produce celebrity interviews from the biggest red carpets like the Oscars. She’s also been tasked to handle highly litigious reports like that of the People v. Brock Turner.
With a true passion for storytelling, Gisela understands the evolving landscape of media consumption, particularly the impact of social media on the distribution and influence of news. She was one of the first to handle breaking news on the ABC7 twitter account, and one of their early social media producers.
In addition to her collaboration with public relations experts to secure high-profile interviews for the network, she’s successfully persuaded numerous bookings and has cultivated strong connections that lead to exclusives on CBS News, like Adam Mosseri for his first interview after taking over Instagram, Mark Zuckerberg’s first interview in the Metaverse, Youtube’s new CEO Neal Mohan for his broadcast debut, Lyft CEO David Risher, 776 Foundation and Reddit’s Alexis Ohanian, and countless breaking news witnesses.
Gisela also successfully manages partnerships with brands, and has created and executed the rollout of interviews to maximize reach and impact. This takes a keen strategic eye.
One of her strengths at work is planning and executing events or shoots, which includes but is not limited to venue research, inviting key players, food and beverage ordering, deciding decor and leading set design, documenting audio and visuals, and being in charge of hosting a great event experience.
Gisela's exceptional contributions to CBS Corporation were recognized through the prestigious “Share The Vision Award,” given to high performing employees for their performance and recognition of significant contributions to the growth and success of CBS. She has also been awarded three national Emmys, an Edward R. Murrow Award, and a National Association of Hispanic Journalists award, along with a Peabody nomination, and numerous other Emmy nominations for her work.
Paving her way forward, she now works as a producer for Gayle King- a broadcasting icon with over four decades of journalistic expertise. Some of her notable interviews alongside King include rapper and mogul JAY-Z, former First Lady Michelle Obama, First Lady Jill Biden, Oprah Winfrey, Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, Megan Thee Stallion, Elizabeth Smart, Daniel Ek, Jennifer Lopez, Robert De Niro, civil rights icon Myrlie Evers, Vogue’s Anna Wintour, Halle Berry, and many others.
